Discounted system maintenance and anti-virus suite bundle
We've bundled together a combination of two powerful tools within one discounted bundle. AVG Anti-Virus 2013 will keep your system safe and secure, whilst you browse the internet. AVG PC TuneUp 2013 will keep your system maintained, your drive optimised and your computer running at an optimum level.
AVG PC TuneUp 2013 is a suite of tools for cleaning up, optimising, fixing, customising, and generally getting the maximum possible from your PC. If you enjoy a hands-on approach then you can explore each of the AVG PC TuneUp 2013 modules manually. But if you prefer an easy life, the AVG PC TuneUp can simply be left to maintain your PC automatically. And then, every three days, while your system is idle, the program will hunt down Windows problems and fix them, while you get on with more important matters.
The new 2013 edition ships with a small number of new functions such as the new Economy Mode. This is a detailed power management application that enables you to examine and turn-off energy sapping features and much more. An ideal way of saving battery power. The TuneUp Program Deactivator is much improved. You are now able to simply start and stop running applications when required, particularly to prevent software from slowing your computer. Rather than uninstalling, shut off software and then restart it at a later date.
AVG AntiVirus 2013 is the commercial version of the company's malware hunter, which includes everything you'd expect from an antivirus tool, and then throws in plenty of extras for good measure.
The first change you'll see is the new and very Windows 8-like interface. Plain green tiles on a dark background organise its functions into four main categories: "Computer", "Web Browsing", "Identity" and "E-mails". Separate buttons allow you to launch scans or updates with a single click, and an Options menu provides easy access to anything else you might need: it's all very straightforward (and now Windows 8-compatible, too).
And the second change should be an increase in scanning performance, as in our tests the program proved to be very fast indeed. This doesn't apply quite so much to the first optimisation scan, which on our trial PC took 8:20 to scan around 680,000 objects. But subsequent Whole Computer scans then took on average only 1:20, a very acceptable time.
This extra speed doesn't seem to have involved any compromise in accuracy, though. Our tests showed AVG AntiVirus 2013 had a marginally better detection rate than the previous engine. And the program is a little more lightweight, too, although still uses more RAM than we would like (typically 40-60MB, and briefly more when scanning).
Note that the trial download here is for AVG PC TuneUp 2013. You can download a trial of AVG Anti-Virus 2013from the AVG website or elsewhere on this store. Your order will ship with downloads for both products, including your serial codes.
