The protection offered by Bitdefender is multi-layered. Any files that are clearly viruses are immediately cleansed or deleted, while those that appear suspicious are quarantined so they cannot cause any damage if they are in fact dangerous. Details of such files are sent to Bitdefender for analysis so the files can be dealt with appropriately.

Virus protection is important even for Mac users who are not convinced of their system's potential vulnerability. Networks can include both Macs and PCs and it would be perfectly possible for a Mac to be used as a carrier for a virus that is passed on to a PC on the same network. With Bitdefender AntiVirus for Mac files infected with Windows viruses are also detected.
